“Mister” addresses the plight of people who have been forced to leave their homes because there’s no future there for them. It’s about refugees and about the conflict and mistrust they face in the countries of refuge. It's a song of hope that there's enough for the need of everyone in this world and that "we'll make it with a helping hand".
lyrics
Mister
mister, won’t you understand, I’ve come here with my baby, from a far-off land. mister, won’t you ever believe, we’re only trying to survive, ain’t that plain to see. mister, we ain’t done no wrong, we ain’t done no wrong, now our only fault is that we’re young, looking for a home, yeah hey mister, you’re no different than me, you’ve got your needs and feelings, ain’t that plain to see ¤ mister, we’re so tired of running, we’ve been so long in cold and storm, although we saw it coming, yeah hey, mister, don’t you know it’s hard, to be somewhere you don’t belong, and try to make a start ¤ mister won’t give a helping hand, we’re trying to make the world the best can, you know, and i know we’ll make it. someone out there wants to make believe that we don’t need another refugee, we’ll make it, i know, i know we’ll make it, yes we will, yes we will… ¤ mister, we’re so tired of running, we’ve been so long in cold and storm, although we saw it coming, yeah yeah, mister, mister, mister, we ain’t done no wrong, we ain’t done no wrong, now our only fault is that we’re young, looking for a home, yeahoo ¤ mister won’t give a helping hand, we’re trying to make the world the best can, you know, and i know we’ll make it. someone out there wants to make believe that we don’t need another refugee, we’ll make it, i know, i know we’ll make it. i know we’ll make it, we’ll make it yes we will, yes we will ¤ i know we’ll make it, yes we’ll make it, with a helping hand…
